Blackstone 2003 Red Blend

We actually found this wine in the RV looking for something else! It's 52% Syrah, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Malbec grown with grapes from Sonoma county. It's quite nice. Here are my impressions.

Visual

The has a pretty intense deep red hue that is typical of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon with nice thin legs upon swirling.

Aroma

I noticed the flavor of berries right away. The back of the bottle suggests smoked cedar and cloves, but I didn't really catch those flavors.

Taste and Texture

The wine is quite balanced with no overly strong acidic or sweet flavors. The jammy taste lingers in your mouth for quite some time before slowly fading into a smooth, velvety finish.

Overall Impressions

Quite the nice find! The wine aged quite well over the past 7 years despite being stored in the RV for some time! The wine works quite well as a whole, without any really unbalanced or exaggerated characteristics. It may actually be a bit too mellow, but its mellow characteristics made it great wine for dinner.
